Hair Loss
Healing Hair Loss through Liver–Kidney Balance and Energy Restoration
Symptoms:
Patient M began experiencing severe hair loss after entering menopause. Having previously lived in a tropical region with soft water, her hair condition worsened noticeably after moving to the UK — where the hard water and cold, damp climateplaced extra strain on her body.
Diagnosis revealed stagnation in the Liver meridian and weakness in Kidney function, both contributing to reduced blood and Qi supply to the scalp. Emotional tension from menopause, combined with long working hours and rigid sitting posture, further tightened the neck and Gallbladder meridians that nourish the head.
Our Approach:
Treatment focused on unblocking Liver Qi, strengthening Kidney energy, and improving scalp circulation.
We used acupuncture, meridian therapy, and herbal formulas targeted at the Liver and Kidney systems. Gentle stimulation along the Gallbladder channels on the head helped open energy flow and support hair follicle vitality. Herbal prescriptions were adjusted weekly to balance internal warmth, nourish the blood, and stabilise hormones during menopause.
Over the course of treatment, hair shedding slowed significantly, new hair growth appeared along the hairline, and overall energy improved. The patient also reported less irritability, deeper sleep, and greater emotional calm.
Results:
Noticeable reduction in daily hair loss.
Improved scalp health and new hair growth.
Balanced Liver–Kidney function and hormonal stability.
Better mood, energy, and sleep quality.
Holistic Insight:
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, “hair is the extension of blood” — meaning hair health reflects the balance of blood, Qi, and organ vitality.
When the Liver is stagnant, emotional frustration builds; when the Kidneys are weak, the body loses its foundation; when Heart and blood circulation are insufficient, nourishment cannot reach the scalp.
Excessive thinking, stress, or overexertion can all deplete energy reserves, leading to hair loss or premature greying.
From a holistic perspective, hair loss is often the body’s way of signalling energetic exhaustion — when one’s outward striving exceeds the energy the body can sustain. True recovery begins by rebuilding internal reserves, calming the mind, and restoring natural energy balance. When the body’s energy field stabilises, growth — both inner and outer — naturally returns.
