Leg Edema

Healing Chronic Leg Edema through Holistic Liver–Kidney Balance

Symptoms:

Patient “H“ came to our clinic with chronic swelling and numbness in the lower legs, especially along the Liver meridian.
The swelling had persisted for years, and the right foot had lost all sensation.
Diagnosis revealed kidney weakness and stagnation in the liver meridian, causing poor water metabolism and Qi circulation in the legs.

Our Approach:

We designed a comprehensive programme to strengthen kidney energy, promote circulation, and reduce fluid retention.
The treatment included:

  • Electro-Qigong therapy to activate circulation and restore sensation in the legs.

  • Meridian massage and liver–Qi regulation to move stagnant energy.

  • Herbal formulas to tonify the kidneys and liver, support water metabolism, and eliminate dampness.

  • Diet and lifestyle guidance, including foods like winter melon and tomato broth, which help reduce lung-related edema.

Healing Progress:

After 1–2 months of continuous treatment, H’s numbness disappeared and leg swelling reduced dramatically.
Energy levels and overall vitality improved, and the body regained natural rhythm and balance.

Results:

  • Edema and heaviness in the legs completely resolved.

  • Sensation in the right foot fully restored.

  • Improved kidney and liver function; better circulation and energy.

  • Emotional stability and confidence increased.

Holistic Insight:

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, edema reflects imbalance in water metabolism, often involving the kidneys (water), liver (flow), heart (circulation), and lungs (breath).

  • Heart-related edema suggests poor blood return and emotional overcontrol — healing begins with trust and relaxation.

  • Lung-related edema improves with rest and light detox foods.

  • Kidney weakness causes fluid retention and leg heaviness.

True healing comes from releasing control, nourishing the kidneys and heart, and restoring harmony among the body’s elements — allowing both energy and trust to flow freely again.
