Hay Fever

Healing Chronic Hay Fever and Allergic Rhinitis

Symptoms:

Patient “D” had suffered from hay fever and allergic rhinitis since childhood, with red, itchy eyes, nasal congestion, and constant sneezing and runny nose every spring.
In the first acupuncture session, his breathing cleared immediately as the meridians opened, and nasal obstruction was relieved — but lasting recovery required addressing the deeper, long-term energy stagnation and immune imbalancebehind his allergies.

Our Approach:

We focused on regulating immunity and clearing cold-damp accumulation that had been trapped in the meridians for years. Treatment combined acupuncture, electro-qigong, and herbal therapy to strengthen Lung and Spleen Qi, warm the channels, and release retained cold.
Because the UK’s climate is naturally cold and damp, many people experience flare-ups in early spring when the body transitions from winter’s internal contraction to the warmth of spring — a time when latent cold rises to the surface.

Through consistent sessions and home adjustments such as keeping warm, avoiding cold drinks, and supporting digestion, the patient’s allergic symptoms diminished dramatically. Within a few weeks, breathing became smooth, sneezing stopped, and overall vitality increased.

Results:

  • Nasal congestion and eye irritation cleared after initial sessions.

  • Seasonal allergy reactions reduced significantly.

  • Energy levels and respiratory comfort improved.

  • Body warmth and immunity strengthened; no relapse during the following spring.

Holistic Insight:

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, hay fever reflects an over-reactive yet unbalanced immune system. When cold and dampness penetrate and remain unexpelled, they block meridian flow, causing the body to react sharply to minor stimuli like pollen or dust.
True healing comes from balancing the immune axis — supporting the thyroid, tonsils, and lymphatic system, while strengthening Lung and Spleen Qi to rebuild stable defences.

Rather than only suppressing symptoms, holistic therapy restores the body’s natural ability to regulate itself — turning hypersensitivity into healthy responsiveness, and helping the body find its natural rhythm of adaptation and balance.
